Our Story

Artistry By the Sea began with a simple idea: to create a place that feels like the coast — calm, creative, and full of beauty made by human hands.

After years of traveling and living abroad, we found ourselves drawn to the quiet magic of Cayucos — a small seaside town in California where life slows down and the ocean is never far away. We opened Artistry By the Sea as a way to celebrate the things we love most: thoughtful craftsmanship, natural materials, and the artists who pour their hearts into what they make.

Every piece in the shop is chosen with intention — from handmade jewelry and ceramics to candles, textiles, and objects for the home. Many are made locally along the Central Coast, while others come from independent makers across the country who share a deep respect for artistry and the natural world.

More than anything, we hope the shop feels like a place to pause, explore, and discover something meaningful — a small piece of the coast to take with you.

About Us

Artistry By the Sea is run by husband and wife team Meagan and Micah, who believe the things we surround ourselves with should feel meaningful, not mass produced. When they’re not in the shop, you’ll likely find them surfing, beachcombing, traveling, cooking, or dreaming up new ideas inspired by the coast. The shop is a reflection of the life they love — thoughtful, creative, and deeply connected to nature.

Nature is My Happy Place

I’ve always felt drawn to nature — first the mountains I grew up around in Idaho, and later the ocean that kept calling to me as a young adult. But it wasn’t until I was facing some difficult health challenges that I truly discovered the restorative power of the natural world.

While living in Portugal, I spent hours walking the beach, filling my pockets with sea glass and shells while practicing mindfulness and learning to slow down. Those quiet moments by the ocean eventually inspired me to start Silver Coast Designs.

I had no formal jewelry training — just curiosity, determination, and a willingness to learn through trial and error. What began as a creative outlet in 2018 has grown into a deeply meaningful journey, connecting me with incredible women around the world who share a love for nature and the beauty found in simple things. Many of my designs are still inspired by those early beach walks and the small ocean treasures that first sparked my creativity.

As I often say, life can be hard — but it is also full of beauty, focus on the beauty.

xo,

Meagan
