Rhyolite is a stone that will not settle on one color. This one runs yellow into lavender, then gray, then burgundy, and the shades wander into each other instead of sitting in tidy bands. Hold it under a window and the burgundy comes forward. Hold it under a lamp and the yellow does.
I set the stone in sterling silver and gave the ring a double band. The two bands carry a stone this size well and keep it sitting where I set it. It is a size 9.

Every stone I work with comes out of the ground different from the last one, so this ring is the only one of its kind. If you wear rings on more than one finger, this is the one the others should stay quiet for.
