Willow Leaf Earrings

These started as real willow leaves. I handpick them, then coat each one in copper, which holds the whole leaf in place: the taper, the fine ribbing, the small irregularities along the edge where the leaf was actually growing. Nothing is stylized, because nothing had to be.

Willow leaves are long and narrow, which is a good shape to hang from an ear. They fall in a line rather than swinging wide, and the copper reads warm against most skin and most hair.

Because every leaf grew on its own terms, no two earrings are identical and the pair you get will not quite match itself. Trees do not do symmetry. For anyone who likes the natural world worn plainly rather than turned into a motif, these are the ones.

They are light, and they suit people who want a piece of the outdoors on them without announcing it. I make these in Cayucos, a few blocks from the water.
